Answering questions from fans, Ivana Alawi stressed that she has no plans of running for public office at the moment as she “knows nothing” about politics.
The actress set the record straight through a video on her TikTok page on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Article continues after this advertisement“Wala akong alam sa politics; wala akong alam sa paggawa ng batas,” she added, noting that she will not venture into something that she’s not prepared for. “Siguro kung papasok man ako sa ganyan, dapat mag-aral man lang ako ng three to four years—because I don’t want to put our country at risk.”

“Guys, kayang-kaya nating gawin ‘yon even without being into politics. Hindi mo kailangang maging congressman or mayor or councilor para makatulong ka. We can all help out in our small ways,” she said.

Speaking about the vital qualities of a public servant, she continued, “Kung papasok ka sa politics at ipaglalaban mo ang Pilipinas, dapat may utak ka—at dapat may laman ‘yung utak mo.” (If you were to join politics, you must have the brain for it.)

Alawi addressed those vying for public posts as well and stressed that they must be dedicated in serving the Filipino people. “Kung makasarili ka, ‘wag ka na tumakbo.” (If you are selfishrich 888, please don’t run for public office.)
