Vice Ganda said he did not persuade his partner Ion Perez to drop his candidacy for Concepcion, Tarlac councilor, with the actor-TV host noting that the two of them do not decide for each other.
Perez earlier announced his withdrawal from the 2025 elections, saying he wants to prepare himself first to serve his constituents competently.

(Our dynamic is not like that. The two of us, we don’t decide for each other. Ion does not tell me what to do, and I do not tell him what to do as well.)

The comedian further noted that Perez had been active in public service and had served as a youth leader in Tarlac even before they met.
